Going the Extra Mile: TAG TRANS’s Commitment to Our Drivers
At TAG TRANS, we pride ourselves on being more than just a logistics company. We see our drivers as family, and we go above and beyond to ensure their safety and well-being. Today, we’d like to share an inspiring story that showcases our commitment to our drivers and highlights what makes TAG TRANS unique.
A True Hero: Hani Khamisi
Hani Khamisi, one of our dedicated owner-operators, recently experienced a medical emergency while on the road. It was midnight near Quincy, IL, and Hani was on his way to Chicago when he felt excruciating pain. Realizing the severity of his condition, he managed to park his truck safely on a highway exit ramp and called 911. Despite the pain, he also texted his dispatcher, Filip, to inform him of the situation and asked him to notify his family.
The TAG TRANS Difference
Hani was rushed to the hospital and underwent emergency surgery for a ruptured appendix. The surgeon later informed him that if he had arrived 30 minutes later, he might not have survived. Meanwhile, local police secured his truck, taking the keys to the hospital.
The next day, TAG TRANS swung into action. We dispatched additional drivers to recover Hani’s truck and the load. Our drivers visited Hani in the hospital, collected the keys, and ensured his truck and trailer were safely parked in our secured facility. After a 4-week recovery period, Hani was ready to pick up his truck. We jump-started it to ensure everything was in working order and ready for him.
Appreciation and Gratitude
When Hani finally came to pick up his truck, he expressed overwhelming gratitude. He came to our office with boxes of chocolates to thank everyone for their support. He expressed that if he had been working for another company, his truck would have likely been towed and impounded, resulting in thousands of dollars in fees and possibly losing his truck and trailer. Instead, TAG TRANS took care of everything, allowing him to focus on his recovery.
Hani’s words were heartfelt:
“If I were to work for another company, they would have left my truck there to be towed and impounded by a towing company, which would result in thousands of dollars of fees and charges, load claims, and possibly even losing my truck and trailer. So, I appreciate the help and the things you guys have done for me and my family.”

What sets us apart is that we don’t see these actions as extra services; they are part of our Standard Operating Procedures (SOP). We act out of genuine care and concern for our drivers, without expecting immediate benefits. Other companies might cut their losses when faced with such situations or advertise minor acts extensively. At TAG TRANS, we believe in consistently doing what’s right for our drivers.
